How every question works: five lessons, three checkpoints

In our free community, every hard question follows the same guided path — from understanding, to reflection, to clarity. Here's what to expect.

A Whole Family Matter

A Whole Family Matter's community is not a typical course — and it's not meant to be. It's a guided decision-learning space for some of the most difficult and personal questions you may ever face: serious illness, end-of-life care, and what truly matters.

Here, learning is about clarifying your values, understanding your reactions, and preparing for real-life decisions.

Five lessons per question

Every question follows the same progression:

  1. What this question is really about — the deeper meaning behind it.
  2. What the research shows — real-world evidence to ground your thinking.
  3. The mechanisms that shape decisions — identity, fear, systems, and hidden influences.
  4. Why this question is hard — the emotional, relational, and psychological barriers.
  5. What this clarifies — and what it doesn't — grounded, realistic clarity.

Each lesson takes seven to ten minutes. Alongside them come reflection prompts, polls and discussions, and small day-by-day posts that keep the question with you.

Three checkpoints

Throughout the journey you'll meet checkpoints. They are not tests — they are structured pauses that track how your thinking evolves:

  • Your position: what do you believe right now?
  • Your challenges: what feels difficult, unclear, or unresolved?
  • Your mind-changers: what has influenced or shifted your thinking?

Over time, your checkpoints form your Personal Decision Profile.

Depth, not speed

Take one lesson at a time. Pause before moving on. Join at least one discussion or poll. Some lessons may feel heavy, personal, and uncomfortable — that's part of the process, not a flaw in it. You can always step away and come back.

And remember what this space is not: a substitute for medical or legal advice, or a place to find one correct answer. It's a reflection space — not a debate space.
